Do you hear metallic squeaks when your SCY is running? Do you feel abnormal vibrations in the transmission? The optical axles are the rods that transfer the rotation from the differential to the wheels. When they wear out or bend, the entire drivetrain suffers: vibrations, power loss, premature wear of bearings and drive shafts.
These Suchiyu Optical Axles (Ref. 16101-6040) measure exactly 2.5 x 40mm, a specific size that fits the housings of your SCY transmission. Their polished surface ensures smooth rotation in the bearings, without unwanted friction. Delivered in sets of 4, they allow you to replace a complete axle set (front and rear) at once.

Lift your vehicle and spin the wheels by hand. If you hear metallic squeaks or feel jerks in the rotation, the axles are probably worn or bent. A visual test: remove an axle and check that it is perfectly straight by rolling it on a flat surface.
The axle length depends on your vehicle’s track width. The 40mm axles are longer and used on models with a wider track (16201, 16101 PRO). Using an axle that is too short or too long will prevent proper assembly.
After each session in dusty conditions, clean the axles with a cloth and apply a thin layer of silicone grease along their entire length. This prevents dust from embedding in the bearings and reduces friction. Avoid thick grease that attracts dirt.
